A Few lessons learned/Way Late Halloween Pictures

1. I learned not to try and let a babies diaper rash dry out when they have diarrhea...
2. I learned that when you cut your hair and you are a mother (even a totally [self proclaimed] cool one), someone is bound to tell you that you have a "mom hair cut."  Even if you don't have said mom hair cut.
3. I learned that some people are out to get you. Just because.
4. I learned that no one can take you seriously when you have a retainer in your mouth... and your 23...
5. I learned how much I love bosses that respect and appreciate you.

We are off to Las Vegas in the morning to meet up with Gma and Gpa Johnson at my Aunt Cindy's for the Thanksgiving holiday.  So excited!

P.S. Here's our last minute halloween costumes for our church's Trunk-or-Treat. Last minute I decided to actually dress up this year so snuck upstairs and rummaged through Kevin's closet and put this piece together, and surprised kevin with a reminder of how cool (again, self proclaimed) I am. He told me I was weird and that he was not going to dress up. After some shameless begging and pouting to no avail, I gave up and went upstairs to get Sam ready. When we came downstairs we were surprised to see a handsome firefighter in the kitchen! Sneaky Kevin snuck down to the fire-station and got his Fire Suit. I was SO HAPPY!

After the church activity our friends, the Patey's and Muhlstein's, came over with their precious daughters and we had a baby photo shoot.

Belly Shirts

Viva Las Vegas

We headed down to Las Vegas for my cousin Heather's wedding in the Las Vegas Temple this weekend!

We picked up a pizza on our way to the freeway friday afternoon, and then we were off!

Sam was exited for the trip!

Sam got to meet his Grandma Johnson for the first time!

That night we went to this restaurant called 

Hash House A-Go-Go

We ordered the pork-ribs in a bed of horseradish mashed potatoes... 

they were delish!

I guess I should get used to dining with Sam by my side...

he was not okay sitting in his car seat away from the center of attention!

 Our cousin Ryan ordered the Chicken and Waffles 

(apparently it is Martha Stewart's favorite dish at this restaurant)

My cousin's Matt and Shannon offered to let us stay at their place for the weekend. It was so fun catching up with them!

She has two awesome kids named Claire and Miles! They loved little Sam :)

Claire loved holding sam. She would come up to me and ask many variations of "Can I hold Sam?" or when that didn't work she would say "Mom said I can hold him now."

 She was the best babysitter ever! 

Kevin wasn't loving the camera that day...

 but sam sure was!

Yes. 

We went to the city of sin. 

No. 

We didn't sin... too much :)

Yes.

We enjoyed a beautiful wedding.

No. 

Not in a chapel on the strip.

But,

In a beautiful temple on a hill!

Sam is growing so much everyday, he coos a lot now and loves mobiles. Here is a video of him hitting his toy and talking to the camera.

We are convinced he said "Hello" at the end.

So would this count as his first word?!

Back to Work

I am slowly starting to come back to work again. 

Came take a look at our new Broadcast Facility!

We moved in 3 months ago, fancy huh?!  

But. I miss seeing this beautiful boy every minute of every day. 

 It is hard to transition from only talking baby talk to communicating with adults again, but It's really nice to be back to the grind.  I have gone down to 30 hours a week, and my hours are very flexible which makes taking care of Sam a lot less stressful.  Kevin watches Sam while I am at work, because he works nights at his new job at BD Medical. Kevin and I don't hang out as much as we used to because our sleep and work schedules are opposite, but It is so worth it knowing Sam is always with one of us.

Well, Sam killed her last night.

I went to the store with a friend, and forgot my purse.  I put my phone in the car-seat under the blanket.  When we got back to the car, I took my phone out and the screen was black and would not turn on again.  When we got home I took Sam out and he was SOAKED! I knew my phone was lost forever, I even tried putting in a bowl of rice!  I went to the sprint store Saturday and got it replaced for just 35 dollars. I told them the story and everything, but apparently the water-damage indicators did not go off so they had to replace it! Even living without a phone for less than a day was awful.

Lesson Learned: Never trust the capacity of a diaper.   :)

Sam Sleeps 7 Hours!!!

MY SECRET?

The Fisher Price Cradle-n-Swing 

I gave the bassinet a chance, 

but Sam just got too good at getting out of my swaddles. 

And sleeping 1 to 2 hours at a time was not working for me.

When we would leave the house, I would get green with jealousy watching him sleep so well in his car-seat , and then it hit me...

Sam's new bed would be his car-seat-shaped swing!

Since then I have had at least 5 hours of straight sleep every night.

It's starting to warm up outside.

So that means we can finally break out the stroller at go on a walk!

It is still too cold for Sam so we have to bundle him up in a cocoon.

He loved the scenery!

We went up to provo last Saturday and helped our good friends Kaitlyn and Tim move into their condo they just purchased!

this is their old apartment...

and by we, of course I mean Kevin.

He did everything while I cheered everyone one and held this guy!

Sam has graduated to the highest buckle in the car seat. 

My boy is getting to big! Which makes sense with how much he eats!
