Sam got a cold.
He had a stuffy nose and a cough.
It didn't seem bad at all, he was not very fussy,
so we just made sure to keep him comfortable and keep his nose clear.

Sam all ready for his 2 week checkup, seeming happy and content.
My mother-in-law came with me to the appointment. While in the waiting room my mother noticed that his chest was cracking and we started getting worried. Turned out, our pediatrician was worried as well. He hooked Sam up to an O2 monitor to check his oxygen levels and his was in the 70's which is alarmingly low. They tested him for RSV and it was positive. RSV is a virus that only acts like the common cold in adults, but it can kill small babies.
Sam was 13 days old, I was hysterical to say the least.
He told us to go to a hospital right away to get him hooked up to oxygen. He advised us to go to the orem hospital, not the Payson hospital by our home. When we got there they hooked him up, but shortly after the insurance advisor of the hospital told us that our insurance was not contracted with that hospital so we had to switch hospitals.
And of course we were transferred to... Payson.
Sam was not stable enough for us to take him ourselves, so Sam and I got our first ambulance ride. I was very happy with the Provo hospital, the nurses were very sweet and everyone was so caring. they also didn't charge us a dime for going there first.
They handled this hysterical mother very well.
When we got to the Payson hospital they quickly set us up and made us very comfortable.

The oxygen tube took some getting used to, but he handled it very well.
Sam was the star of the floor again. He was the healthiest of all the sick babies!
He didn't need much help except for the oxygen.
"What are you guys doing to me!?"
Kevin and I took turns watching him and going home.
We decided that this was why Kevin lost his job.
I don't think I would have been strong enough to do this alone.
Kevin's parent's were LIFESAVERS too!
They watched Sam while we went out to lunch to help us decompress.
To help pass the time and keep our sanity we:
1. Had the DIYnetwork to give us renovation ideas
2. Had a lot of room service, for "free"
3. Got our moneys worth in ice cream and soda.
I never thought i would see him sleep in one of these hospital bassinets again.

After 5 days our baby finally goes wireless again
and we couldn't be happier... or more cautious.
We quarantined ourselves for a while after this. No more chances!
